Jishin is a Norwegian industrial metal band located in Oslo. I was contacted to make their debut album “JISHIN” almost 1 year ago and everything went well until contract issues surfaced. For about 10 months this album has been kept on hold, but finally put to print in a limited promo run. The album art itself is a visualization of the of their gritty music and expression.
You can listen to some of their music at soundcloud.

The winters in Norway and very long, dark and cold. Surprisingly enough, my city isn’t known for having a lot of snow, but still very windy and cold. Snow did eventually fall in Stavanger though, and in the middle of the night and in the dark, we set the scene for an expressive portrait shoot, of the dark Norwegian winter nights.

Pouring down drinks, starting to blur the lines and lose focus of the image, like watching a 3D movie but lacking both the extra dimension as well as the glasses. Giving you a double vision.

During my short stay in Barcelona and already within the first day it was quite clear to me that Barcelona was a city of contrast, in more than just one aspect of the word. It’s quite the tourist place, and it has nice buildings and locations, but you don’t need to even walk into any dodgy back alley to see all the huslters walking around to trick some stupid tourists or snatch their wallet. But when the night actually comes around and you do happen to walk in the alleyways, it’s almost absurd how frequently you’ll be bombared with offers of everything from the illegal scene. From all the drugs you can imagine to completely ongoing hookers that are pretty much begging you for sex(and money).
Based on my experience, I wanted to illustrate this with some of the photographs I took there. Overexaggerated of course, by splitting a scene in half, showing 50/50 of the good side and the bad side, to display the contrast of the city.

I went down to Kristiansand last Saturday and had a shoot there I was hired in to do for 2 models; Amalie and Rikke. Spring is here in Norway and summer is around the corner, so we decided to go for a spring/summer looks for the photos with an added twist of vintage fashion. The shoot took place at Odderøya, just south of the “downtown” of Kristiansand, on a rather cold and windy day – but the spring feel still shines through in the photos.

This is a shoot done right before the turn to 2011, which I had almost forgotten about so being put up on the website with quite a delay! Dusting off the Super Nintendo, popping the cartridge in and time for some sexy gaming.

Aiming to capture the classic retro looks of 80s roller blading girls lightly dressed wearing colourful clothing, skating down Santa Monica beach in L.A. I might not be in L.A., or even the US for that matter, but we went down to St Kilda beach a hot day and got to work. The shoot took place at St Kilda beach itself, and also in the little park area beside Luna Park. Having the theme park in the background and all the palms really managed to resemble the look we were going for.

I was lucky enough to be invited up to Sydney by Sera and got some free accommodation during my stay there. Their house was in quite hippie style with a wild zebra sofa in it all, fitting inside the jungle. And on the very last night we had a shoot together, rolling around in the sofa and being wild.

A schoolgirl killer, straight out of a movie poster. This shoot focused on having very high production value and going deep into detail.
In this shot there was a total of 7 photos taken, photoshopped and manipulated together, creating interesting and dramatic lightning.

This photo series is expressing the feeling of having insomnia and being restless, of not being able to fall asleep, waking up in the morning and feeling unrested and restless. It’s one of the most frustrating feelings of actually being tired, wanting to sleep, but simply not being able to by your body or mind, out of your control and will. It will just make you go crazy at some point.
Model: Candice Li

The “Hipster” series is a collection of different hipster girls promoting different old school, vintage and different cameras, in a total collection of 3 different cameras and girls. This shoot is also meant to capture the hipster look and feel, which is all the popular at the moment and maybe in particular in Melbourne, Australia, as one of the major “hipster cities”.
Models: Mel Wong, Annie Nguyen, Jolin Phuong Vo

For a long time I’ve been a fan of old cameras and the unique images they produce, but also vintage fashion and the two combined. In recent years the vintage fashion have expanded a lot and it has become a lot more popular, and there are several magazines with editorial photography based on the vintage feel. So.. I wanted to have my own take on it, give it a nice summer feeling, light clothing, washed out colours and sunbeams.
So on a warm weekend day, we went down to Fitzroy gardens for a shoot.

I might not have had a direct urge to inflict pain to others or get into a real fight anytime soon, but I what I really felt like doing was visualizing it. Together with the local Melbourne metal band; Naberus and the MUA; Tania we came together to create a fight scene amongst the band members. Kicks and punches where delivered, and a mash up like this have never looks better before, despite it also having a slight disturb factor. This was also a good chance for Tania to show her special effects make up skills.

The theme we did was “Lazy Morning”, where Melty was going to look super tired, messy and spaced out. Loved how her hair turned out:

Amee from Perth joined me for a shoot while she was in Melbourne, punky look, little clothing and awesome makeup by Merav Katz. Alphie LaFray was supposed to join us for this shoot, but had to cancel last minute. The shoot went good still. It was done at the edge of the CBD, which equals a lot of crowd and people overall. So we had a few people peeking in during our shoot, but went good for the most part. And the shots ended up awesome:
