It’s about reaching your personal climax, forgetting about everyday chores and difficulties and simply on that feeling which makes you just feel wonderful and worth living for. Our views slowly become clouded from reality, we reach another state of mind. Wether this is reacher through thrill & excitement, drugs, sex or any other way – we all go there.

Notum http://www.danielbrokstad.com/portfolio/notum/ http://www.danielbrokstad.com/portfolio/notum/#comments Mon, 14 Apr 2014 07:51:07 +0000 http://www.danielbrokstad.com/?p=4588 Notum is latin for ”known”, and is a tour operator as well as a consultancy company within the travel business in Norway. They focus on having a local insight and knowledge to all the small paths and unique sights in the vast nature in Norway – they want to deliver an extraordinary view worthy of a “postcard moment”. The identity builds on this, taking inspiration from a postcard stamp as logo together with photographs of Norwegian nature. The logo mark itself is a tree branching out to smaller paths and destinations.

Kuala Lumpur http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2014/02/kuala-lumpur/ http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2014/02/kuala-lumpur/#comments Thu, 13 Feb 2014 13:05:20 +0000 http://www.danielbrokstad.com/?p=4475 It was a short stay of only 3 days in Kuala Lumpur, but still it was an interesting little trip there. First of all it was the first time I went to a Muslim country, except the airport in other middle eastern countries. Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur had a very mixed vibe. It was a mix between the middle east and south east Asia, with a heavy presence of Indians and Chinese people. Shockingly, only 50% of Malaysia are actually Malay, and this just shows how mixed the country is. Highly conservative in daytime, yet surprisingly open nightlife. Its a city of two worlds.

Phuket http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2014/02/phuket/ http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2014/02/phuket/#comments Tue, 11 Feb 2014 17:09:39 +0000 http://www.danielbrokstad.com/?p=4343 As described earlier, I called it “Hell in Paradise”. Originally when booking my trip to Phuket I had not prepared myself for what this would be. Without proper research I assumed it would be “The southern city in Thailand, close to a beach”, as Kaohsuing in Taiwan or Busan in South Korea. However, this is a completely different beast, on a touristy level beyond everything I have ever seen before. I have been lucky enough to be reserved from charter locations, but I guess not anymore after this. As I heard more and more “horror stories” from Phuket, I rebooked my stay, changing it from 6 days to only 3 days – and yes this was more than enough.

Phuket is still a very nice place, if you only look at the nature. There is a reason why it has become such a tourist machine. Just too bad this industry is eating up the place itself and killing what would otherwise be a wonderful place. Drunk tourists, “cheap” shops and hookers. Welcome to Phuket.

Bangkok http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2014/01/bangkok-2/ http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2014/01/bangkok-2/#comments Wed, 15 Jan 2014 02:26:47 +0000 http://www.danielbrokstad.com/?p=4282 After Vietnam, Thailand was next and starting with Bangkok. This was my 2nd time here. I honestly didn’t enjoy Bangkok too much my first time here, but I had decided to give it another shot, this time with a bigger budget than my broke student budget from last time. Also, this time I had been lucky enough to get more insider tips of where to go and which places to check out – and this undoubtly led to me liking Bangkok a lot more this time around. I especially enjoyed Thonglor and Ekkamai area, a very hip and trendy area with a lot of locals hanging out.

Ho Chi Minh City http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2014/01/ho-chi-minh-city/ http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2014/01/ho-chi-minh-city/#comments Sun, 05 Jan 2014 06:02:00 +0000 http://www.danielbrokstad.com/?p=4220 The first destination of my Hello World travel was Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I have previously only been to Bangkok in Southeast Asia, so it was interesting to see both the similarities and differences. One thing is for sure, the traffic in Vietnam is absolutely crazy. Even at green light crossing the road you’ll have to dodge motorbikes coming your way, the stream of motorbikes just never ends – pretty much everyone has one. I found Vietnamese people to very kind and welcoming. And it was for sure a big contrast between rich and poor in Ho Chi Minh.

“Hello World” and status! http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2013/11/hello-world-and-status/ http://www.danielbrokstad.com/2013/11/hello-world-and-status/#comments Tue, 26 Nov 2013 18:22:53 +0000 http://www.danielbrokstad.com/?p=4186 Hello everyone! And Hello World!

I have to admit I have been way too bad at staying up to date with current events on my website blog lately. It’s been a busy year. I usually post my news through my facebook page, which is a lot more convenient.

However, it’s about time I start to be more active on my blog also. A huge event coming up: HELLO WORLD! What is that? Simply put, for all of 2014 I will be traveling the world. I quit my full time job at procontra after working there for 2 years, and will now go full time freelance while I travel the world. As I’m writing this it’s under 2 weeks until I leave, on December 8th. My first destinations are Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Australia. I will be staying for 2 months in Australia and have my work base there until I move to next destination – not determined yet.

So why in the world am I doing this? First of all because I love travel and I am always looking forward for my next journey. But why walk around in circles waiting to travel again and not just spend all my time travel? So thats what I decided to do! Besides, I’m young, single and far from established/stuck in Stavabger – so I went ahead and grabbed my chance. This is something I’m gonna have to do now or I will spend the rest of my life regretting it. It will be a huge change of pace in my life, and a big challenge to both return to freelance but also see how it is to work when I’m constantly on the go, or at least for shorter time at one location.

“Hello World” is also a design project I will keep updating as I go. I will design a poster for each destination I go to.
Go here to see the project: danielbrokstad.com/portfolio/hello-world/

I will also be posting photography series from places I’ve visited.

Stay tuned! Follow me on facebook for the most recent updates. :)

TEN x SIXTEEN x SIXTY – Lervig Stensrud poster http://www.danielbrokstad.com/portfolio/ten-x-sixteen-x-sixty-lervig-stensrud-poster/ http://www.danielbrokstad.com/portfolio/ten-x-sixteen-x-sixty-lervig-stensrud-poster/#comments Thu, 14 Nov 2013 09:07:57 +0000 http://www.danielbrokstad.com/?p=4596 This is a poster designed on behalf of Lervig Aktiebryggeri as their personal gift to Kristoffer Stensruds 60th birthday, one of Lervigs biggest funding contributors through the last 10 years the brewery has been running. In 16 years they have created 16 different craft brew, and this poster is a “thank you” for the past 10 years, a summary of the 16 brews and a congratulations to Stensruds 60th birthday. To accomodate all the different labels in 1 poster, it was designed in a very minimalistic manner, taking the colours from each label as a representation. The lines connected between the labels represent which series it belongs to, with their own 10th anniversary brew in the middle. The poster was printed offset on metallic paper with gold foil in a exclusive ONE ONLY print, to make it a more special present.
