Jishin is a Norwegian industrial metal band located in Oslo. I was contacted to make their debut album “JISHIN” almost 1 year ago and everything went well until contract issues surfaced. For about 10 months this album has been kept on hold, but finally put to print in a limited promo run. The album art itself is a visualization of the of their gritty music and expression.

Possession – The unholy wine collection

Possession is a limited edition unholy wine collection, featuring “Evil Demon – Bloody Shiraz”, “Haunting Ghost – Spoory Cabernet” and “Old Witch – Cursed Pinot Noir”. All the wines comes in a solid coffin shaped glossy casing, which adds to the exclusiveness of the wine series. Each are based on different occult themes as satanism, the paranormal and witchcraft. The type design on each bottle reflects it’s theme and was made in a rough way to contrast the otherwise clean setup and design, to give it more of an edgy look.
This is a self initialized conceptual design.

Norwegian Winter Night

The winters in Norway and very long, dark and cold. Surprisingly enough, my city isn’t known for having a lot of snow, but still very windy and cold. Snow did eventually fall in Stavanger though, and in the middle of the night and in the dark, we set the scene for an expressive portrait shoot, of the dark Norwegian winter nights.

Sandnes Typography Ad

This is an a dual advertisement that ran in the local region newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad advertising for the city of Sandnes and it’s recent achievements. One of them being awarded as Norway’s 2nd best city for doing business. Based on value words I created a typographic illustration shaped as the city coat of arms.

Pace & Love

Pace & love is a little journal for ALIGN, a supplier of production- and safety critical equipment and solutions, showing their company values; Professional, Ambitious, Caring and Enthusiastic. Because of the season, they wanted a flavour of christmas added to the illustrations in the journal. For the project I decided to build the Pace & Love typography out of tools related to engineering and safety equipment, especially when building emphasis on the letters and their values. The typography is build up from over 100 deep etched objects. I did the typography, design and illustrations for this project.

Movember Christmas

As a yearly tradition at Procontra, they always give away a donation to different causes in the christmas season to spred joy and help others. This year, we decided to donate money to the Movember movement and support prostate cancer. In that occasion, we made a movemeber themed christmas card, which include a moustache for the ones who didn’t save up for one during Movember or had not heard about the movement yet, and we encourage people to take photos of themselves wearing the moustache to continue supporting Movember, all the way until christmas. The tagline on the front says “Movember lasts until Christmas”. I did the design and illustration for this project.

Weekend trip to Bergen.

Bergen is Norway’s 2nd largest city, and is known for it’s constantly rainy weather. However, in the weekend trip me and Marie took to Bergen, we pretty much avoided all rain. We got snow instead. But as it was only snowing at night, I didn’t mind it. Besides, it has now been 3 years since I have seen a real layer of snow since I’ve been in Australia for the 2 last years – and after returning to Norway I’ve been staying in Stavanger which gets more ice than snow.

Overall a very chill weekend, but quite cosy with going out on cafes and partying until early morning.

I really loved the foggy mountain scenery in Bergen this morning.

I got reminded how beautiful snow actually is. I’m usually a constant fighter against it, but I got to admit
it does have it’s benefits as well. Not only for being pretty, but also for lighting up the otherwise dark
season in Norway.

While we do have the same style of tree houses in Stavanger, they do seem a little more like doll houses here as they are places on different levels throughout the hill landscapes.

Bybanen is Bergen’s new tram system. While only having 1 line at the moment, it was quite frequent and fast to get to downtown Bergen.

Way later in the night, when heading into the city again, the radio tower at the top of the mountain was lighting up in the dark.

After fixing the camera adjustments for her, Marie captured a quite good photograph of me.

We ended up going out to Ujevnt on Saturday night, which was a very cosy and fun bar. It was quite social as well, we ended up talking to a bunch of other people we met.

The next morning there was a thick fog covering the city.

The scenery was a little haunting with the fog, branches with no leaves, lake and the cold winter mood.

This is the first time I’m doing this, but I think it’s even about time I throw out a little word to some of my friends and family in the art and design business, everyone could always do with a little more exposure.
First one out, is Arvid Skimmeland.

He’s a freelance illustrator who got his bachelor degree in England a couple of years ago. He does everything hand drawn which is a nice contrast and natural twist to all the very digitally worked art and illustrations now a days, which I’m “guilty” of as well. Enjoy.

My last last fridays.

Been way too busy lately so I haven’t had time to update photos from social events and galleries in a good while. But here’s the start on trying to catch up. And too many pictures to follow in the post below!

I recently got a new job, but before I started my new job I was out drinking with my now old “work mates” at the Melvær&Lien where I had a desk as a freelancer. These are the highlights and moments captures from the two “Last Fridays”, which is their monthly drinking night together as a studio. And in the end of October it was my last last friday.

Double Vision

Pouring down drinks, starting to blur the lines and lose focus of the image, like watching a 3D movie but lacking both the extra dimension as well as the glasses. Giving you a double vision.
